Pricing
Free during private beta.
Final per-seat pricing isn’t set yet — we want a quarter of real customer data before we publish numbers we’ll honor. The principles below are locked even though the prices aren’t. Join the waitlist and you pay nothing until GA.

Principles
What we commit to before the numbers land.
Pricing pages usually set six tiers and forget them. We’d rather promise the boring parts (no surprise invoices, no haggling, no leaving-tax) and dial the actual numbers based on what real customers cost us to serve.
Per-seat with a generous "active user" definition
A seat is an account that has signed in within the last 30 days. Stop logging in, stop counting. No charging for the new hire who's still in onboarding.
AI cost passed through with a small markup
Every AI call is logged with model, tokens, and cost. Overage above your tier budget is billed at our actual cost plus 20%. Not double, not triple, not "talk to sales."
Hard budget caps with an alert at 80%
You will not see a surprise $4,000 invoice because someone ran the digest in a loop. When the budget is exhausted, AI features disable until the next window or you raise the cap.
No first-year discount at GA
We're free during private beta — that's the discount. After GA, the price you see is the price. No haggling for the same product based on whether you asked.
90-day notice on any price change
Existing customers grandfathered for at least one year. Reasoning published in the changelog. You will not be surprised at renewal.
Your data is yours
Lumis is a layer on Asana, not a system of record. If you leave, your data stays in Asana — there's nothing to export from us, because we never claimed to be the source of truth.
AI cost transparency
Every AI call is logged with cost, in your account.
Lumis uses Claude Haiku 4.5 for the cheap, frequent AI work and Sonnet 4.6 opt-in for higher-quality drafts. Costs measured in production are showing roughly:
| AI call | Cost (Haiku) |
|---|---|
| Task clarity review On-demand from the task page | ~$0.004 / task |
| Title suggestion Triggered from a clarity flag, or standalone | ~$0.005 / call |
| Description suggestion Triggered from a clarity flag, or standalone | ~$0.015 / call |
| Email digest narrative Per scheduled digest delivery | ~$0.01 / digest |
Numbers updated as we measure. Sonnet 4.6 opt-in costs roughly 10× Haiku per call. Every AI action shows its cost in the UI before you confirm it. Hard org budget cap; alert at 80%; overage at our cost + 20%.
Likely questions
- Why no prices yet?
- Because we don’t have customers yet. Setting confident numbers before we’ve served anyone for a quarter would be theater. Free during private beta is real, the principles below are real; the specific dollar figures land when we have data behind them.
- What does early access actually cost me?
- Nothing. Free during private beta. No credit card collected. When we do set GA pricing, you’ll get 90 days notice and a year of grandfathered pricing if you’re in a paid tier by then.
- Will pricing be cheaper than the big PM tools?
- Probably. We’re a layer on top of Asana, not a replacement for it — smaller infrastructure, smaller support footprint, no enterprise sales team to fund. The savings should land in the per-seat number.
- What counts as a seat?
- Anyone who has signed in within the last 30 days. If a user stops logging in, they stop counting against your seat total at the next billing cycle.
- What if AI usage is way more than expected?
- You get an email at 80% of the budget. If you blow through, AI features disable until the next window or an admin raises the cap. Overage is at our cost + 20%, never double. You can also switch any feature to Template mode (deterministic, no LLM) and keep using the rest of the product.
- Can we leave?
- Yes. Your data stays in Asana — Lumis never claimed to be the source of truth. There’s nothing to export from us when you go.
